​Western Zone IYC Leadership Defends Eleco, Says There Is No Going Back On Scheduled Dates For Election – The Liberator

The Comr. Eric Kpemi led leadership of Western Zone Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has backed the decision of the 2020 Electoral Committee of Council under the leadership of Barr. Bekewei Ajuwa to go ahead with the national election comes 10-11th of July 2020 at Oporoza, traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State. 

The Western Zone IYC Leadership noted that they are satisfied with the process so far as the entire Ijaw nation is warming up to massively storm Oporoza for the election, warning that anyone trying to act as a cog in the wheel of progress should refrain from such act.

This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Warri, signed by the duo of Comr Eric Kpemi, Chairman IYC Western Zone and Comr. Dr  Doubra Oketete, Secretary IYC Western Zone, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.


The duo had  stressed that Ijaw nation and the general public should completely disregard any group of persons acting otherwise, noting that the Ijaws have decided that the election must hold. 


It would be recalled that the Eleco had earlier today issued a press statement to the Ijaw nation that the election must and will hold on the scheduled dates at Oporoza in Gbaramatu Kingdom. 


This statement reads in full below:

IYC WESTERN ZONE COMMENDS  STANDS WITH THE IYC 2020 ELECO IN  CONJUNCTION WITH HER SISTER ZONES AND CHAPTERS  WITH THE DECISION  TO GO AHEAD WITH THE 10TH & 11TH ELECTIVE CONVENTION BILLED TO HOLD AT OPOROZA,IN GBARAMATU KINGDOM.

The zonal leadership, 23 can structures and  stakeholders across the Delta, Edo & Ondo states that made up the Western Flank of our revered Ijaw youth council  wishes to express satisfaction so far with the processes that includes the date and other electioneering arrangements made public by the Electoral committee.

Our satisfaction is predicated upon how close the very long awaited convention is to begin on the 10th of July at Oporoza, while our heart goes out to all aspirants who have been spending their resources to galvanize ijaw youths to support their ambition to move council forward, We enjoin the Electoral committee of council to proceed as planned for the interest of ijaw nation.

As the host Zone of the 2020 elective convention of the Ijaw youth council we assure all our brothers  and sisters of council of our commitment to a peaceful, secured, and organised convention at Oporoza in Gbaramatu kingdom in Delta State.

Ijaw youths of western zone in solidarity with other zone and  chapters  wishes to commend and show solidarity with the efforts and strides of the electoral committee in ensuring that the elective convention holds as the wait is long overdue.

It is in the same spirit of solidarity we wish to also use the medium to advice that the Electoral committee remain transparent and steadfast to deliver the mandate of ijaw youth come this weekend convention.

 

The western zone leadership  also wish to advice those trying to educate the electioneering process to desist and support the eleco in ensuring a free, fair and  transparent election come  this week 10th & 11th  July, 2020.
