​Iduwini Kingdom Chief, Oweizide Rejoices Over Tompolo’s Acquittal

The Ozufarewei of Iduwini Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Oweizide Abraham Dio has congratulated the grand commander of the present day Niger Delta and Ijaw struggle for emancipation, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly called Tompolo. 

Chief Dio  also commended the Nigerian judiciary, particularly the Lagos High Court for the judgement, stressing that the judiciary is truly the last hope of the common man. 

While expressing happiness on the court judgement, Oweizide  noted that Justice Buba’s judgement will continue to remain as a land mark judgment in the country, noting that it really feel good to be happy.

The Iduwini Kingdom Chief expressed his happiness to newsmen in Warri yesterday via a statement signed by him, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper. 

The statement while describing Tompolo as a pillar in Niger Delta and to the Ijaws in particular opined that the most dreaded former warlord has never being a bad leader as he will not indulge in any dubious practice.

While describing Tompolo as a sincere and pure man, the Ozufarewei noted that Ekpemupolo has always been a man of peace as making peace with him will amount to so many gains between the Federal Government and other regions in the country. 

Dio stated that right from the beginning of Tompolo’s incarceration, the Ijaws, Niger Deltans and good spirited Nigerians knew that he is innocent, adding that there are lots of calls from people of the region crying and calling for his freedom. 

However, In his ruling on Wednesday 15th of July 2020  Mr Buba upheld the defendants’ no-case submission, saying the prosecution “failed to establish a prima facie case” against Tompolo and others.

He dismissed the entire charges and set them free.

The Liberator Newspaper can report that following the court judgement on Wednesday in Lagos, there had been massive jubilation across Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta region on Tompolo’s freedom. 
It would be recalled that Chief Dio Oweizide Abraham hails from Ofougbene community in Iduwini Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
