DELTA: Angele, Others Grace Hand Over Ceremony Of New Odimodi Community Leadership

Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele on Thursday graced the inauguration ceremony of Odimodi Federated Community leadership headed by Comr. Solomon Gbegha as its Chairman. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can exclusively report.

The hand over ceremony was done at the Eluwe Hall in Odimodi Community,  Iduwini Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State to pilot the affairs of the community for the next two years. 

Administering the oath of office to the newly inaugurated community executive members, Chief Alex Pukon who commune with the deities of Odimodi Community and its forefathers noted that the hand over ceremony is inline with the tradition and constitution of the community. 

At the Elewe Hall, Chief Alex Pukon  before administering the oath of office to the newly inaugurated executive members of the community under the chairmanship of Comr. Solomon Gbegha, Pukon had on behalf of the people of Odimodi Community dissolved the Capt. James Angalabiri led administration of the community, stressing that the desolution is in line with the normal practice of the community.

Chief Pukon asserted that June 30th 2023 marked the end of the Capt. James Angalabiri led administration of the community, stressing that the end of the administration will mark the beginning a new leadership now headed by Comr. Solomon Gbegha. 

Immediately after administering the oath of office to the new leaders of the community, members of the outgone exco on behalf of the Capt. James Angalabiri led Exco handed over all documents that were in their possession to the newly inaugurated community executive headed by Comr.  Solomon Gbegha.

However, shortly after the oath of office and the subsequent hand over by the former exco members, Comr. Solomon Gbegha took charge and presided over the gathering at Elewe as Chairman of the community. 

Odimodi is one big family, we will carry everyone along – Gbegha 

In his speech, Comr. Solomon Gbegha, Chairman of Odimodi Community had appreciated members of the community for the peaceful conduct of the election and the subsequent hand over ceremony today. 

He noted that Odimodi is one big family hence he will do all within his power together with his executive members to operate an open door policy by carrying everyone along. 

Chairman Gbegha stated that his administration will aggressively address and consolidate on the developmental yearnings of the community, stressing that he will not betray the confidence reposed on him by members of his quarter and the community at large, adding that a new dawn has come in Odimodi. 

Gbegha had particularly lauded Hon. Godknows Angele, Chairman Burutu Local Government Council and his cabinet members for witnessing the hand over ceremony, noting that their presence is highly appreciated.

Odimodi people are very peaceful, you must carry everyone along – Angele 

On his part, Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, Hon. Godknows Angele had hailed the people of Odimodi Community as peaceful and hospitable, adding that the community is very dear to the Local Government, Delta State and the country at large. 

Speaking further, Angele had charged Comr. Solomon Gbegha and members of his Exco to carry everyone along, stressing that there is more to achieve in unity than division. 

A new leadership has come to stay in Odimodi, we will all rally round it – Ikiere 

The Chairman, Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas, HOSTCOM, Ijaw Ethnic Nationality, Delta State, Mr. Kingsley Ikiere, a critical stakeholder of the community who was on ground to grace the hand over ceremony while addressing The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide described the ceremony as historic. 

The Delta State Ijaw HOSTCOM Chairman, Sir Kingsley Ikiere had told sons and daughters of Odimodi and its federated communities in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State that a new leadership headed by Comr. Solomon Gbegha is now in place, declaring his support that he will rally round the new leadership of the community for progress. 

Ikiere had told sons and daughters of the community to do same as the community is one big family, noting that indigenes must do well to always embrace peace and discourage any act of violence. 

We cannot legalise illegality in Odimodi, our constitution must be followed – Ingo 

Comr. Isaiah Ingo, a political leader in Odimodi Community has on his part while commending sons and daughters of the community for massively gracing the occasion stated that the community cannot legalise illegality, adding that the constitution of Odimodi Community must be followed as no one should operate outside the constitution. 

Ingo noted that June 30th marked the end of the Angalabiri led administration hence the birth of a new leadership headed by Solomon Gbegha. 

On his expectations from the new leadership of Odimodi Community, Ingo have charged the new leadership to always prioritise peace and the development of the community. 

He continued that the Gbegha led administration should make move to reconcile whoever that may be aggrieved in the community for a better and more progressive Odimodi. 

In a similar development, Mr. Benjamin Gbesine had called on everyone in the community to work with the new leadership of the community, stressing that sons and daughters of the community must prioritise the development of the community above personal interest.

The newly inaugurated community executive members include Comr. Solomon Gbegha- Chairman, Ighobiriwei   Iyalagha Secretary, Dere Podoki- PRO, Richard  Ebiyadou – Assistant Secretary, Bernnard  Kpadia- Treasurer as well as Mr. Parish  Waregbamo – Fin Secretary.

Others are Mr. Dressman Potolo, ward chairman, Ifikorowei and Mr. Monday Obokuro –  ward chairman Ifie quarter. 

Nevertheless, the outgone exco members present during the hand over ceremony include Mr. Godwin Awese- PRO, Solomon Prophet- Assist Sec, Emotonghan Toruwei- Fin Sec and Mr. Faye Douyaibi – Treasurer. 

Meanwhile, the new leadership of the community has invited members of the general public to grace their celebration party scheduled to hold on Saturday 9th of July 2022 at Odimodi.

Godknows Angele, Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, His Vice Chief Combolous Ikisah, Hon. Sunny Perekeme, Secretary Burutu Local Government Council,  Comr. Edoukumor Mike, Political Adviser to Angele, DPO Burutu Division, SSS Boss Burutu Local Government Area, JTF from Forcados Terminal.

The ceremony was graced by Chief Olukpa Andy – Chairman, Odimodi Chiefs Council, Elder Oyakurogha Samuel- Chairman Odimodi Elders Council, women, youths and several others.
