The Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) have urged Nigerian Youths to be wise by not allowing themselves to be used by politicians as political thugs come 2023 general election. 

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the duo of Amb. Comr. Mamamu Bene Youkore, popularly known as young chief as president of the Niger Delta Youth Council and Hon. Shadrach Onitsha Ebikeme, SSA to Governor Okowa as secretary of the group, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide yesterday. 

The duo of Mamamu and Ebikeme had in the statement noted that Youths of Niger Delta must see themselves as good ambassadors of Nigeria and not people that will only be used as political thugs during elections and be dumped thereafter.

The group noted that the trio of Alahaji Atiku Abubakar, Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bola Tinubu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) must not use the youths as thugs but can engage them productively. 

They particularly charged the three dominant aspirants to always preach peace, unity and youth inclusion in governance if elected, stressing that leaders must prioritise youths inclusion in governance ahead of 2023.

Speaking further, the statement had admonished  Sen. Adamu Abdullahi, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Iyorcha Ayu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  Barr. Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) and other parties to always preach against violence and using youths as political thugs as they go into the campaigns. 

Nevertheless, the statement had particularly charged the youths to vote for leaders that will truly allay the fears of Niger Deltans and will guarantee a united and working Nigeria. 

Meanwhile, they had asserted that the youths must always embrace peace and discourage violence at all cost.
