Delta Ijaw Comrade Community Sympathize With Flood Victims, Wants Opening Of IDP Camps

A group housing all Ijaw Human Rights Activists and Comrades in Delta State under the aegies of Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC) have sympathized with flood victims across Delta State, particularly those Ijaws dwelling in riverine communities in Delta State. 

The Delta Ijaw Comrade Community made the call earlier today via a statement signed and circulated to newsmen in Warri by Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill, President general of the group, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

Binebai had in the statement noted that the 2022 flood from all indication have proven to be worse than the 2012 flood, stressing that the people are really suffering as their source of livelihood have been destroyed completely by the ravaging flood. 

According to him, President of the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community had called on the various affected Local Government Councils in Delta state, particularly Burutu Local Government, Bomadi and others to urgently open a functional IDP Camps to carter for the people. 

The statement had also called on the various organs of Government, representatives, NGOs and well meaning individuals to quickly do something about the flood victims by providing for them at this trying times, noting that most people are now homeless. 

Binebai while lauding those that have distributed relief materials so far also asserted that he is well aware that other representatives are making plans to provide relief materials for the flood victims, praying that may the Lord Almighty give them the strength to do so. 

Meanwhile, Amb. Princewill had called on political leaders and the Government to prepare on time in subsequent times, adding that the Government must ensure that henceforth it put up certain measures to control the flood a bit even though flood as a natural disaster cannot be totally prevented but at least, it should be controlled to some level.
