Some aggrieved retrenched workers in Ogulagha and Odimodi communities, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State have vowed to shutdown oil exploration activities in Forcados Terminal over the refusal of SPDC to call them back to work. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.

The group under the auspices of Ogulagha/Odimodi brotherhood had while lauding the paramount ruler of Ogulagha Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Elder Capt. Joseph I. Timiyan (JP), Pere of Ogulagha Kingdom for playing vital role regarding the matter so far have also appealed to the revered monarch to once again intervene on the lingering issue.

It would be recall that during the covid-19 era, the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in Forcados Terminal sacked some indigenous workers from both Ogulagha and Odimodi communities which led to series of protests from the downsized workers.

However, following the intervention of various stakeholders, the Delta State Government was able to provide monthly stipends for the sacked workers pending when SPDC will call them back to work, adding that the Delta State Government supposed monthly stipends for the workers is now footdragging as the Government is owing them some months now.
According to the statement, the sacked workers are now facing defining moments of their lives as life itself has become hellish and terrifying to them.
It would be recall that it is the firm instruction of the Delta State Government to SPDC that the sacked worker be recall to resume work, wondering what SPDC is up to as they have not make any plan to recall them.

A statement jointly signed by the duo of Comr. Tenbuwo Waredigha, President and

Comr. Adams Fiyedewei as secretary reads below:

Brotherhood of Ogulagha and Odimodi Communities Cries Out….Plead with Pere of Ogulagha kingdom to intervene…

We the members of the Brotherhood Confriternity of Ogulagha and Odimodi Community is pleading with the pere of Ogulagha kingdom and other stake holders in Delta to plead with the Delta State Governor Senator (Dr) Okowa to pay the sacked workers of Ogulagha and Odimodi Community extraction their 3 months outstanding salaries and to accelerate their call back to resume work.

This issue has taken too long and we the Brotherhood is becoming worried about it.
We are pleading with the Pere to intervene with Delta State government, Senator Dr Okowa, His Deputy Barr Kingsley Otuaro and the Commissioner of Oil and Gas Chief Emma Angbaduba to quickly liase with SPDC to recall back all downsized workers and to continue with the payment until the workers resume work before we will take laws to our hands and stop the operations of SPDC in forcados Terminal.
There will be strange massive protest that will involve both the Old and Young people in Ogulagha and Odimodi Community if the needful is not done.

I as the president of the group Comr Tenbuwo Waredigha is saying SPDC should recall back their workers. We have waited for this for too long. Everywhere is peaceful now and things have return back to normal.
We won’t stop at nothing untill we see all sacked workers go back to work and their salaries being paid….
Signed

Comr Tenbuwo Waredigha.

President.

Comr Adams Fiyedewei

Secretary.
