Herdsmen Killing Of Ijaws: IYC Storm Toru-Angiama, Sends Powerful Message To FG, Others

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide on Friday stormed Toru-Angiama community in Kumbo Kingdom, Patani Local Government Area of Delta State to meet with the community and commiserated with the family of those that lost their loved ones to Fulani Herdsmen recently. The Ijaw youths from Eastern, Central and Western Zones led by the Secretary of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Rt. Hon. Frank Pukon, other national officers including spokesman of Council, IYC Western Zone Chairman, Dr. Comr. Doubra Collins Okotete, Rt. Hon. Bob Collins Igetei, Speaker of IYC Mobile Parliament, President of the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC), Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill, Western Zone Clan Chairmen Forum, Comr. Ebolo Samuel, Chairman of all Clan Chairmen in Western Zone with the host of other critical stakeholders had stormed Toru-Angiama earlier today for proper briefing regarding the issue from the community leadership.

However, while addressing the press on behalf of the entire Ijaw Youths Worldwide shortly after the meeting with the community leadership at the community town hall, Spokesman of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Comr. Ebilade Ekerefe had called on the Federal of Nigeria to call the Fulani Herdsmen to order.

Speaking further, Spokesman Ebilade particularly described the silence of the Federal government of Nigeria, Delta State government and security agencies on the matter as shameful and unpatriotic.

While commending the people of Toru-Angiama community for their peaceful disposition despite the provocation by the marooning Fulani Herdsmen, Ekerefe had called for continued calmness, stressing that Council will liase with critical stakeholders of Ijaw nation after which a position will be taken on the matter.

Ekerefe continued that the Ijaws are not conquard people, stressing that no one should hold anybody responsible should anything happen since those in authority seems not to be doing anything about it.

Meanwhile, Ekerefe had called on the Ijaws to defend themselves against any external aggression, stressing that enough is enough.

Other national officers that were part of the movement include Barr. Obiri Ebilade, legal adviser, Madam Tina Tobusi, Woman Leader IYC Worldwide, National Treasurer and several Zonal and critical stakeholders of council.
