…As Itsekiri Elders Endorse Hon. Onowakpo Thomas for Senate

All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Isaba Ward in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State Engr. Jude Akpodubakaye has urged the people of Delta South Senatorial District to vote for the party’s Senatorial candidate, Hon. Joel Onowakpo Thomas, describing him as a brilliant, promising, dependable and grassroots oriented leader with an enviable track record of following through on his commitments.

Engr. Akpodubakaye who made the assertion in Warri after accompanying the APC Delta South Senatorial candidate to campaign in some riverine communities urged the people of Delta South Senatorial District to vote for Hon. Joel Onowakpo Thomas, saying that he is a tested, dependable and grassroots oriented leader with an enviable track record of following through on his commitments.

The former Delta State House of Assembly aspirant for the Warri South-West, lamented that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led-government has failed the people of the Senatorial District, citing the poor performance of the incumbent Senator representing the Senatorial District, pointing out that even the PDP Senatorial candidate has no enable track record in his own community as current chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC.

He called on the electorates in the Senatorial District to vote for all APC candidates from the President to governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly candidates, saying Deputy Senate President and governorship candidate of the APC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege all other flagbearers of the are men of good track records and honour.

The APC Senatorial candidate, Joel-Onowakpo had regretted the poor state of development and lack of government’s presence in Deghele community, stressing that his opponent, Ejele, despite being a top member of the PDP in the last 24 years and current chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has done nothing tangible for his hometown.

Hon. Joel Onowakpo Thomas charged the residents to make credible choices by electing him and all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections, assuring that the incoming APC led-administration will serve the people genuinely and bring development to them.

“Let me assure you that I will defend the interest of the Itsekiri people when elected as your Senator,” Joel-Onowakpo added.

Meanwhile Itsekiri Elders in Ogheye Ward in Warri North and Orere Ward in Warri South West Local Government Areas of Delta State have unanimously endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Delta South Senatorial District, Hon Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, lamenting that the Peoples Democratic Party led-government has neglected the Senatorial District for long.

The elders who gave the assertion on Thursday when the Delta South APC Senatorial candidate, Hon. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and members of his campaign organisation led by Chairman of the Council, Prince Evans Omatsoguwa and Director General, Chief Mike Seikegba stormed Ogheye and Deghele, hometown of the PDP Senatorial candidate, Michael Diden (Ejele) during a ward to ward campaign had poured encomium on the APC candidate.

Speaking on behalf of the elders at Ogheye, Comr Godfrey Mejebi said the votes of Itsekiri people, particularly in the Ward shall count for Hon Joel-Onowakpo and all APC candidates.

“Engr Tuoyo Omatsuli who brought you to us is our own son. He has done a lot for us as an ethnic group. We know that he will not lead us wrong. Therefore, our votes shall count for you and all APC candidates,” Mejebi stated.

He urged all Itsekiri sons and daughters to collect their PVC and be ready to vote massively for the APC to correct what he described as “the misrule of PDP in Delta State.

On his part, the Ward Chairman of Ogheye, Ajofotan Jonathan Omagbemi said the track records of Joel-Onowakpo as Chairman of Delta State Board of Internal Revenue are visible and remarkable, noting that no reasonable person that wants the progress of Delta South Senatorial District would vote against Joel-Onowakpo of the APC.

“This ward is for you (Hon. Joel Onowakpo Thomas), so go home and sleep. We know your pedigree and track records as revenue boss and we are convinced that you will deliver when you become our senator,” Omagbemi said.

While making reference to the PDP Senatorial candidate for Delta South, Esimaje Gbubem who spoke at Deghele, Ejele’s hometown said that the people of the Ward have endured poverty and under development for decades despite supporting the PDP for about 24 years without any visible presence government in the area, saying that the Orere people have seen the light, hence, they shall be voting massively for the APC to bring good governance and social amenities to the people.

“When you stay in darkness for long you begin to see. We will not repeat what has kept us in this poor and under-developed state. We cannot continue to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result.

“We lack portable water, good hospitals and other amenities. We need to change this narrative, so I am addressing you as our Senator in waiting. We shall change the pattern for the good of our land because we have seen the light,” Gbubem noted.
