Youth Leader Urges Obaseki To Appoint Ijaw Commissioner In Edo

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader in Siluko ward, Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State, Comr. Samson Yanbor has called on His Excellency, the Governor of Edo State, Hon. Godwin Obaseki to appoint an Ijaw son or daughter as Commissioner of the state.

The youth leader made the call yesterday in Benin, capital of Edo State while addressing critical stakeholders of Edo Ijaws.

In a statement personally signed and made available to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide by Comr. Samson Yanbor, PDP youth leader Siluko ward explained that Edo Ijaws have contributed in no smaller measure towards the growth and development of the state over the years, stressing that it will be nice for them to be treated fairly.

The statement reads below:

“The Ijaw people in Edo state who are politically divided into three local government areas in Edo state, namely, Ikpoba Orkha, Ovia North East and Ovia South West local government in Edo state.

“The Ijaw people have immensely contributed to the growth and development of Edo state through their blessed natural resources in their mother Land in Edo state.

“The Ijaw people has been balkanized and have been denied of reasonable political appointment into the state executive council.

“I am using this medium to appeal to His Excellency, the governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki to appoint Ijaw son or daughter as commissioner in Edo State.” Samson added.

It would be recalled that Comr. Samson Yanbor is a former Special Assistant (SA) to Governor Obaseki on Public Affairs.
