Burutu community, headquarters of the Local government Council was agog with distinguished personalities yesterday as Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele, Commissioner for Housing Delta State as he handed over the Chairmanship position of Burutu Local Government Council to Chief (Hon) Combolous Ikisa who was his vice chairman before his appointment as commissioner for Housing, Delta State.
Speaking at the thanksgiving ceremony shortly after the handing over ceremony at the Burutu Local Government Council secretariat, the commissioner for Housing, Delta State, Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele had appreciated the people of Burutu Local Government Area for their massive support.
Speaking further, Angele said while he will miss the people of Burutu, he assured them that he will continue to use his high office to negotiate a better deal for the people of Burutu Local Government Area and beyond.
However, the Delta State commissioner for Housing had expressed optimism that he has no iota of doubt in him that Chief (Hon) Combolos Ikisah who has been his vice chairman for years and now Chairman of the Local government will do well as Chairman.
Angele had passionately appealed to the people of Burutu Local Government Area to continue to give their support to Chairman Ikisa.
In his reaction, the Chairman, Burutu Local Government Area, Chief (Hon) Combolos Ikisah had particularly appreciated the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and his immediate boss, Hon. Godknows Angele for the opportunity to serve as Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area, stressing that he will not dissapoint them and the people of Burutu Local Government Area.
Nevertheless, the Burutu Local Government Council Chairman had vowed that he will continue with the good legacies of Angele, adding that he will consolidate and improve on them where necessary.
In his remark, Amb. Dr. (Chief ) Julius Takeme (JP), Chairman Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta South Senatorial District had expressed confidence on the capacity of Hon. Combolous Ikisa to deliver.
Dr. Takeme while describing Ikisa as a grassroot man, stressed that Combolos is well abreast with the multifaceted issues that are bedeviling the Local government, adding that Combolos will no doubt contribute his quota towards the growth and development of the local government.
The ceremony was heavily attended by dignitaries across Burutu Local Government and beyond yesterday.
