Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and a frontline aspirant for the Chairmanship race in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State in the fast approaching local government elections in the state, Engr. Don Dickson Ogugu, popularly known as Don Daddy, has congratulated Rt Hon. (Chief ) Thomas Ereyitomi, member representing Warri Federal constituency, House of Representatives on his tribunal victory.

Engr. Don Ogugu issued the congratulatory message to newsmen in Warri earlier today via a statement he personally signed, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

However, Ogugu had while congratulating Rt Hon. Thomas Ereyintomi, member representing Warri Federal constituency, House of Representatives on his tribunal victory had described the judgement as one of the best judgements in Nigeria’s judiciary.

Speaking further, Ogugu said the judgement is no doubt a true reflection of the will of the people in Warri Federal constituency that turned out massively to vote for Ereyitomi during the election.

Nevertheless, the Warri South West Local Government Chairman hopeful had particularly described Rt Hon. (Chief) Thomas Ereyitomi as a trail blazer, stressing that he is one of the best thing that has happened to Warri Federal Constituency, adding that Hon. Ereyitomi should be given the needed support for him to continue to deliver on his mandate and not to be distracted by opposition elements.

It would be recalled that Engr. Don Dickson Ogugu is the PDP coordinator of Isaba ward in the just concluded general elections, a position he dedicated him self all through the campaign and election process alongside with the party leaders to use both personal resources to drive which produced positive results wherein the PDP scored the highest number of votes in the elections.

“With the tribunal judgment giving Thomas Ereyitomi victory, there is no doubt that there is hope in Nigeria’s judiciary ” Ogugu added.

The National Assembly and State Election Petition Tribunal which hold in Asaba, on Saturday, dismissed the case filed by EKPOTO EKPOTO EMMANUEL of the All Progressive Congress (APC) challenging the election of Rt. Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 28, 2023 General Election.

The Chairman of the three man panel of the tribunal, Justice Catherine Ogunsola, who read the judgement while dismissing the case in Asaba said that the petitioner case lacks merit.

She also said that the petitioner failed to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt.
The panel member further said that the evidence brought before the tribunal by the petitioner are not admissible in the eye of the law.

According to the Tribunal Judges “The Petitioners failed to call evidence unit by unit and ward by ward to establish malpractice in the election.

“The Petitioner in his pleadings did not demonstrate the discrepancy between the number of accredited voters, the lawful votes cast and how it affected the outcome of the election. Attempt to do this in his Written Address was of no moment.

“The alleged forgery of the 3rd Respondent’s NECO was not established as there was disclaimer from the issuing authority. Besides, no mean could be inferred.”

Each and every relief in the petition as well as the petition itself were dismissed with cost of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) against the petitioner in favour of the 2nd and 3rd Respondents.
