Ijaw Group Issues Strong Warning To Omadino Itsekiris Over NMU Okerenkoko Matter

Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko: Stop Drumming For Ethnic War In Delta, ICDC Cautions Omadino Itsekiris

The Ijaw Cultural And Development Crusaders (ICDC) has cautioned the Omadino Itsekiris in Delta State not to plunge the state into another round of ethnic crises in the state.

As Ijaw people, we know our history and we will not allow the Itsekiris to twist and tell our story. Okerenkoko has never at any time belonged to the Omadino Itsekiris with any form of strange name like “Okerenghigho “. The name has always been Okerenkoko in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State and not Okerenghigho.

The Omadino Itsekiris are notorious land grabbers hence as a people we don’t think that we have the patience to continue to endure their provocative claims on our Ijaw ancestral land.

As a law-abiding people, we are equally calling on the Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty, Ogiame Atuwase III to call his people to order. We are making this appeal because when things get out of hand, it will be too late to handle.

We are sounding this note of warning again and again that we will not continue to allow such insults reeled on our people by the Itsekiris, there is a limit for which we are going to tolerate this. It seems some people don’t like the peace everyone is enjoying in the state. The people of Okerenkoko will not allow any name like “Okerenghigho ” to be attached to the Nigeria Maritime University, (NMU), Okerenkoko.

However, we are using this medium to call on His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu to completey ignore such crises merchants as whatever they are writing is purely from the figment of their imagination and far from being true.

Nevertheless, our resolve to issue this statement calling on the highly revered Olu to call his subjects to order must not be seen as a sign of weakness as a stitch in time, saves nine.

It has become axiomatic that a word they say is enough for the wise. Those who have eyes, let them see, those that have ears, let them hear.
