VDM Attacks On Churches: A Defence On Prophet Omoto, Others
By: Ziakegha Peter
The recent trend of blackmail against churches in Nigeria, orchestrated by anti-Christian individuals is deeply troubling. These malicious accusations not only damage the reputation of churches and their leaders but also sow division within the religious community.
One highly disturbing aspect of this trend is the silence of christians to these unfounded attacks. Despite the severity of the situation, the Christian community has failed to take a stand against these harmful actions, leaving churches vulnerable to further blackmails.
The attacks began with accusations against the late Senior Prophet TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church of all Nations in the recent times, including allegations of fake miracles and sexual offences even after his sudden and irreplaceable demise. The Christian body failed to defend the Prophet or investigate these claims ultimately emboldens perpetrators to target other churches in Nigeria.
The latest case involves Martins Vincent Otse, also known as ‘VeryDarkMan,’ who has been blackmailing churches that use spiritual materials. This individual falsely accused Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto of the Mercy Land Deliverance Ministry of selling miracle soaps. When this propaganda failed to gain his expectation he then turned his attention to accusing the man of God of selling miracle water, prompting NAFDAC to investigate the ownership of the water and the registration number.
NAFDAC, after investigation, found that the church does not have a water factory and that the said water belongs to a company called Globod Table Water located at KM 4, DSC express way, Otokutu which the church has a contractual agreement to supply the water in order for the Prophet of God to bless and give to members. Despite this, NAFDAC went ahead to make a misleading publication against the Church.
This raises the question of if he ‘ Very DarkMan’ would have the same boldness to call for an investigation into the Zam-Zam spiritual water used by Muslims or openly criticize the Muslim community in the same manner as he is doing to Christians.
Otse didn’t stop there, he continued his attacks by targeting the apron of the “Chosen Church”.
It is important to note that spiritual materials hold great value and significance in various religious practices around the world. These items are used by churches for consecration and then become powerful instruments for healing, deliverance, and the expulsion of demons.
For example, the Roman Catholic Church uses communion bread, which is transformed through consecration into the body of Christ. Other spiritual materials, such as holy water, olive oil, mustard seed, handkerchiefs, and aprons, are utilized by Christians all over the world.
These items are often bought and then blessed through prophetic declarations, imbuing them with symbolic power against spiritual forces
Christians must recognize the threat posed by this aggressive campaign to discredit spiritual materials that are vital to all churches all over the world. It is now crucial for members of the Christian community to break her silence and take a decisive stand against ‘VeryDarkMan,’ and urge him and the likes to cease their harmful online activities against the church.
Christians should urgently call on the Nigerian government to address the actions of Blackmailers against the body of Christ. This is another strategy to eliminate Christianity in Nigeria.
The actions of ‘VeryDarkMan’ do not only harm specific churches and spiritual leaders but also have broader implications for the religious community in Nigeria. Christians all over the world must fulfill its mandate to defend the Church and the body of Christ by addressing these issues and preserve the unity of the Christian faith in Nigeria, as an injury to one, is an injury to another. This is es pirit de corp in Christendom.
