Rivers Secretariats Burning: IYC Writes FG, Want Culprits Punished

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide has written President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Inspector-General of Police, Commissioner of Police, Rivers State and other security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the shootings and burning of Local Government Secretariats in Rivers State with a view of bringing perpetrators to book.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Warri earlier today by Spokesman of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC Worldwide, Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill , a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

IYC Condemns Burning Of Secretariats In Rivers, Call For Thorough Investigation, Want Culprits Punished

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide has condemned in strong terms the burning of Local Government Secretariats in Rivers State after the Local Government Elections in the state.

IYC had particularly called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the commissioner of Police, Rivers State and other security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation with a view of bringing perpetrators to book.

However, the hynarchy in Rivers State has become alarming, the Police should urgently swing into action by ensuring that pepetrators are brought to book and punished in accordance with the law.

However, the lawlessness in Rivers State really calls for great concern, hence the Ijaw Youth Council is calling on the masterminds of such barbaric and anti-democratic forces to retrace their steps and allow peace reign for progress and democracy to flourish in the state. Peace is always priceless, we must do everything within our powers to discourage violence.

Let it be known to everyone in Rivers State that the Local Government elections in the state have come and gone, there is nothing anyone can do other than accepting the reality and working for the development of the state.

The shootings leading to death and burning of Secretariats in Rivers State after the Councils Elections is an evil taken too far, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security agencies must not make Nigerians feel arms have been legalised in Rivers State. There is the compelling reason to quickly tame and tackle this rising insecurity in Rivers State.
