Odimodi Debunks Tension, Weaponisation Allegations, Say Community Is Peaceful, Exonerates Frank Enekorogha

Youths of Odimodi Federated Community in Iduwini Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State has rubbished and debunked news circulating on social media that the community leadership is stockpilling arms to cause tension with an intent to frame some members of the community.

The Odimodi community Youths made the clarification through Comr. Laide Cyril, Youth President of the community who spoke on behalf of the youths hinted newsmen yesterday that the community is peaceful and not in anyway in any form of tension or procuring of guns to cause chaos in the community.

According to the Youth President, Cyril Laide while debunking reports circulating on the media that the community has recently been engulfed in actions capable of causing tension, stressed that such informations are not true but the figment of the imaginations of the authors.

However, while narrating what has been happening in Odimodi community in recent times, President Laide maintained that the community only carried out a traditional purification in Odimodi to ward off evil in the community as there have been strange happenings among indigenes of the community hence the need for the spiritual purification and cleansing of the community.

Laide noted that such spiritual purification exercise is mainly done immediately after the end of every “Abadezongo ” festival but unfortunately the community was unable to do the purification exercise this year after the “Abadezongo ” festival hence the belief that the inability of the community to do the cleansing exercise has been chiefly responsible for the mysterious and strange happenings in the community this year.

The Youth President continued that the leadership of the community decided to embark on the purification exercise to set things right for the community which is a normal practice in the community that all sons and daughters of the community is well aware of.

Nevertheless, the youths noted that Odimodi is not at war with anyone, adding that the community don’t know any link to purchase arms not to talk of procuring arms to cause insecurity in their own community, stressing that the report is not only false but an evil taken too far by anti progressive forces in Odimodi community.

On the allegation that Rt. Hon. Frank Enekorogha, former Speaker Delta State House of Assembly and former member of the House of Representatives who represented Burutu Federal Constituency is a man of peace and a well respected leader in Delta State and Nigeria at large is not a man that would fuel any community crisis.

While Hon. Frank Enekorogha is a bonafide son of Odimodi community, Comr. Cyril stated that the highly revered political leader has never played any active involvement in Odimodi community politics to the point of gun smuggling and organising thugs to destabilise Odimodi as the community don’t have harbour or have thugs, adding that such allegations are totally untrue.

He explained that Rt. Hon Frank Enekorogha visited Odimodi community recently as son of the soil to plead with the community leadership to provide portion of land for him to build his residential house.

In response, Odimodi community obliged him his request for portion of land to build his house, promising that anytime he is ready with his building materials, he should come to Odimodi and the land will be made available for him to erect his building, Laide wondered on how people would twist such progressive move to link it with a non existent crisis.

“As youths, we are calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria and security agencies, particularly the Inspector-General of Police to completely ignore such fake news but to rather investigate the activities of the petitioners and those cooking up these misleading and false stories.

“Odimodi community has always been a peaceful community and will always remain peaceful and we will not allow enemies of our communities to throw our peaceful Odimodi to into any form of crisis “. Laide, youth president of Odimodi community stated.
