A revered chief in Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State Amb. (Chief) Francis Boumiebi, JP, has welcomed the duo of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President Federal Republic of Nigeria and Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State on the commissioning of road projects in Ogulagha Kingdom slated tomorrow.

This was contained in a press statement issued to newsmen in Warri earlier today by the revered chief in Ogulagha kingdom, a copy of which was made available to The Liberator Newspaper.

It would be recalled that Vice president Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa among others would be storming Obotobo 1 community in Ogulagha Kingdom for the ground breaking/commissioning of the 19.5km Obotobo to Yokiri road and Youbebe/Beniebi-ama road project, Sokebolou internal road as well as Obotobo 1 internal road all in Ogulagha kingdom.

However, the renowned United Nations, UN POLAC World Peace Ambassador had described Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as a God sent to deliver the riverine Ijaw communities in Delta State, particularly Ogulagha Kingdom.

The Liberator newspaper can report that Chief Boumiebi is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State who was a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on his just concluded first administration as SSA on Community Development in the State.

The Delta State Justice of Peace, JP had further described Governor Okowa as the most riverine Ijaw friendly Governor of Delta State since inception of the State.

According to him, with Governor Okowa at the helms of affairs in Delta State, Ijaws across the state have nothing to fear and worry about in terms of development.

In his words: “Since the discovery of Crude Oil in Ogulagha Kingdom by SHELL in 1968 till date, this is the first time ever in the history of Delta State, that indigenes of this kingdom were appointed as Special Assistants (SA) and Senior Special Assistant (SSA), at the State level, roads constructed and model secondary school almost at its climax in your first tenure. What other democratically elected Governments had been denying us with, since the inception of democracy in 1999, at State and Federal levels.

“Your victory at the poll is as a result of your transparency in government and democratic dividends to all Deltans. We pray to see more of it in your second tenure.”

However, Amb. Francis had appreciated the vice president for visiting the Kingdom, stressing that it is an indication that the Lord Almighty is about to do something new and big in the Kingdom.

“Your visit to Ogulagha kingdom is an indication that God is about to do a new thing and the Angels in Heavens are already rejoicing to receive this Divine blessings.” Amb. Boumiebi stated.

Meanwhile, the Global Peace Ambassador had frowned at the age long neglect meted out on Ogulagha Kingdom by both the federal government and the multinational oil companies operating in the kingdom despite hosting several critical oil and gas facilities.

“I therefore, call on both Federal and State Government to give oil host communities undivided attention and address the critical needs of the people. Imagine, an oil rich land that is a major host to multinational companies and a contributor to the state revenue and the economy pillar of the Nation have nothing to show for it; No adequate health center/Hospital facilities, ill treatment from SHELL, in terms employment and training, No federal Government project of any kind not even an high institution (Polytechnic).

“Furthermore, it will interest you to know that the Ogulagha kingdom people host critical National oil and gas assets such as Forcados Terminal, Yokiri Gaslight Station, Forcados/Yokiri integrated gas project, Yokiri flow station, Meji flowstation etc. And over 100 oil wells operating peacefully by SHELL, AGIP, CHEVRON, Britannia-U respectively.

“Your Excellency, In spite of this very privileged position we occupy, the support and contribution we availed the Nigeria State through peaceful oil and gas production environment and the protection of oil and gas facilities. The people of Ogulagha kingdom have been deprived of the opportunity to hold key positions in any of the Niger Delta Agencies such as NDDC, NIMASA, Niger Delta Amnesty Program, and the Niger Delta Ministry and even Minister of Petroleum.

“Once again, we want to say welcome your Excellency to the land of natural resources. We pray, our message is pass to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” The statement emphasized.
