Niger Delta Youth Council had warned  Arewa Youths to stop fanning the embers of trouble in Nigeria, stressing that the award of the pipeline surveillance security contract to Tompolo by the Federal Government of Nigeria is a step in the right direction.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the duo of Amb. Comr. Bene Youkore Mamamu, popularly known as young Chief, President of the Niger Delta Youth Council and Comr. Shadrach Onitsha Ebikeme, secretary of the group, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide earlier today.

The group while urging the Federal Government of Nigeria to completely ignore the Arewa Youths on their alleged misdirected speech on Tompolo has called on President Muhammadu Buhari not to be distracted by the antics of such elements.

However, the Niger Delta  group had called on the Arewa Youths to render unreserved apology to High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo and the Niger Delta people, adding that their act could be best described as the highest height of disrespect on their leader.

According to the Niger Delta Youth Council, they asserted that over the years, Tompolo has spent his own personal resources in maintaining peace across the Niger Delta region and Nigeria at large, adding that it will be unfair for people to come on air to go against him, warning that such reckless and divisive statements will no longer be condoned, describing the act as completely unnecessary.

They continued that anyone that is against Tompolo is not only against Ijaw nation but also the Niger Delta region and the progress of Nigeria at large, noting that Tompolo remains the only man suitable for the job at the moment and that the Federal Government of Nigeria has done the right thing.

Nevertheless, the duo of Mamamu Bene Youkore and Onitsha Ebikeme asserted that Tompolo whom they described as the generalissimo of the Niger Delta struggle has over the years shown capacity by executing similar contract in 2012 under Goodluck Jonathan as President.

Meanwhile, NDYC had cautioned the Arewa Youths and other youth groups in Nigeria to be careful with their utterances, stressing that youths should be productive and preach unity in Nigeria than making divisive statements.
