A group operating under the auspices of Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) on Monday berated the Nigerian military for invading Letugbene Community in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelea state, an Invasion that saw the wanton destruction of properties and caused great panic among inhabitants.

The group had also tackled faceless gunmen allegedly from Rivers state that made certain utterances against Tompolo and his pipeline security contract via a video that went viral on social media, stressing that the group is towing the wrong path.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the duo of Amb. Comr. Mamamu Bene Youkore, popularly known as young chief, President of the Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) and his secretary, Comr. Shadrach Onitsha Ebikeme, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide earlier today.

However, the statement noted that while Niger Deltans, particularly Ijaw communities have always been attacked and invaded by the military at any slightest provocation, he asserted that the innocent ones and the communities have always suffered the brunt of such Invasion while those they are looking for will not even be seen and punished for their alleged crimes.

They particularly condemned the Invasion, adding that they are not against the military going in search of criminal elements but added that such operations must and should be done within the ambit of the law, stressing that the innocent people and the communities must not suffer from such hunt for criminals.

The duo had called on President Muhammadu Buhari and Gen. Lucky Eluonye Onyenuchea Irabor, Chief of Defence staff to caution the military on professionalism and proper intelligence gathering.

Speaking further, Mamamu and Onitsha had particularly cautioned the faceless gunmen in Rivers state to be careful, adding that Niger Delta do not deserve such threats at the moment but to rather work together for the progress of Nigeria.

The group had urged Niger Deltans to always see reasons to support Tompolo, stressing that he meant well for the region.
