A body operating under the auspices of Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) on Monday charged Governorship candidates in Bayelsa State to caution their supporters on a violence free election.

This was contained in a statement personally signed on behalf of the group by Amb. Mamamu Bene Youkore, popularly known as young chief, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide yesterday.

According to Mamamu, he said people must not lie for someone to be elected as Governor, stressing that such act does not tell well of Bayelsa. Speaking further, Bene asserted that elections in Bayelsa State where supposed to be more peaceful due to the fact that all candidates are Ijaw people.

“As Ijaws, we are one, we cannot afford to kill ourselves due to election. We are using this medium to call on security agencies to swing into action by deploying heavy security to Bayelsa State ahead of the election.

“If as youths we all refused to be used as political thugs, then there will be no room for violence and when there is no violence there will be peace hence no one will die. Let us resist acts of violence by all means necessary.” Mamamu added.

Meanwhile, Youkore had also lauded the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide for issuing a statement calling on Youths in Bayelsa to shun act of violence ahead of the Bayelsa State November 11th Governorship election.

The Niger Delta Youth Council noted that they are fully in support of IYC on their position on a free, fair and credible election.
