Ogulagha Kingdom Due For Higher Institution, IYC Spokesman Binebai Tell FG, Governor Oborevwori

Spokesman of the highly revered Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Delta State Government led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to quickly activate plans in establishing a tertiary institution in oil rich Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill, Spokesman Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide made the recommendation in Ogulagha Community, traditional headquarters of Ogulagha Kingdom during the National Association of Delta Ijaw Students (NADIS) 2024 Mega Elective Convention noted that Ogulagha should be considered with a Higher Institution of learning as a gain for its economic contribution towards the growth and development of Nigeria, Niger Delta and Delta State.

Speaking further, Amb. Princewill explained that it is high time the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Delta State Government prioritise the proper development of Ijaw areas across Nigeria in the various states that the Ijaws are.

He particularly tasked the various state Governors in Niger Delta hosting the Ijaws to live up to expectations of the Ijaws, stressing that the Ijaws are yet to truly get their developmental needs from the various states that they have been balkernized into.

Binebai who delivered lecture on the theme of the 2024 NADIS Mega Elective Convention on Saturday 4th of May 2024 tagged “The Role Of Students Leadership In Politics And Community Development ” noted that the level of development in the Ijaw areas is not commensurate with what they are producing to the covers of the Federation.

Binebai who did justice to the theme of the programme particularly encouraged NADIS to use the students platform to groom themselves as leaders, stressing that they should be interested in politics as “political power is even greater than the oil we are all talking about in Nigeria. ”

Meanwhile, Yerin maintained that the call for the establishment of a tertiary institution in Ogulagha Kingdom is something the IYC will pursue in the coming days.
