​Pukon regret’s vandalization of gas line in Delta 

Deputy leader of Warri South West Legislative Arm, Rt. Hon. Frank Pukon has regretted the vandalization of a gas line in Batan community, Diebiri Kingdom by suspected oil thefts in Warri South West Local Government Area, Delta State.

Hon. Pukon made the call yesterday while reacting to the incident, describing the situation as sad and highly regrettable.

He had condemned the act with a charge on security operatives to interface with relevant stakeholders with a view of bringing the perpetrators to justice.

The Warri South West deputy leader made the assertion in a press statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Warri yesterday, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.

However, he had further cautioned the military to go about its job by strictly adhering to acceptable professional conducts, adding that the innocent people living in the community must not be intimidated in the process of investigation.

It would be recalled that Rt. Hon. Frank Pukon is the councillor representing Diebiri ward in Warri South West Local Government Area, Delta State.

In his words: “My attention has been drawn to the destruction of NGPTCL gas line at Batan community, Diebiri clan, by unsuspecting oil thefts. This is sad and highly regrettable.

“I, therefore, condemn this act in the strongest terms and urge security officials to interface with stakeholders to gather intelligent information, for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

“As a leader, I cannot allow miscreants to blight the peace building capacity that is being forestalled; thus far, and perhaps even more worrisome, is the fact that it is a disservice for people to take laws into their hands by destroying national assets. One of the predominant factors that led to the unavoidable recession in our country was because of the destruction of national assets leading to cost inefficiency and insecurity. 

“It is a sad day to Batan and Diebiri clan because we are peace lovers and in the course of our peaceful disposal, we have protected national assets to the detriment of our own lives, and these are just the handwork of mischief makers for the military to militarize our people. The military, however, should adhere to professionalism and synergize with stakeholders for the people not to be intimidated, in this electioneering process.” Pukon stated.

Meanwhile, The Liberator can report that since the destruction of the gas line at Batan community, in Diebiri Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area, no group in the region has claimed responsibility.
