IWC Visit’s Takeme, Presents Portrate, As He Calls For Societal Values Reorientation

The Delta South Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief (Dr) Julius Takeme have said that the place of women in values re orientation of any society cannot be over emphasised considering their position as building blocks of the society.
Takeme stated this while playing host to a social advocacy group known as Ijaw Women Connect (IWC) Western Zone in his country home in Warri at the weekend.
He charged the women to jealously guard their values and parade themselves as people who are most valuable in the society, saying that ”women are the building blocks of the society, therefore guiding your values enthusiastically will correct ills of societal vices and decadence.” He added
He also stated that women should remember always that, they are wives as well as mothers and as such leaders that should live by example because the society needs their upright and forthright value reorientation to succeed.
The party chair commended the social advocacy group for their bold initiative and assured them of partnership noting that, the business of projecting women’s right is a laudable project that is all embracing.
In her reaction, Leader of IWC Western Zone Comr. (Mrs.) Evelyn Ogeleka while thanking Takeme for the warm reception given to the group said their visit was necessitated by search for a trusted partnership that found Takeme above board as a prize personnel to protecting the rights of Ijaw Women.
Mrs. Ogeleka acknowledged the sterling leadership quality and the humble but robust testament Chief Takeme has garnered overtime, saying that his appointment as Chairman, PDP, Delta South is well deserved.
She disclosed that the fundamental objective of the group, Ijaw Women Connect (IWC) is to project the rights of the Ijaw Woman devoid of any form of bias and sentiments.
“Other than the second fiddle or unequal treatment meted to the Ijaw Woman in tradition and family platforms, the Ijaw woman in the creeks need to enjoy such rights and privileges as enjoyed by their counterparts across the globe” She stated.
Others who spoke at the visit include Rt. Hon. Joseph Alubeze, Hon. Ebike Oromoni, Dr. Sunny Afore, Hon. Ignatius Ziakegha, in their separate remarks, they commended the women and urged them to create values that can be reckoned with and stay true to their course
High point of the occasion was the presentation of a portrait to Takeme in recognition and appreciation of his forthright leadership style
Also present during the visit are member Delta State House of Assembly, Burutu South, Hon. Pullah Ekpotuayerin and Chairman, Burutu Local Government Area, Hon. Godknows Angele.
