Rights Activist Akin Asks Buhari To Release Tompolo’s Seized Properties

Niger Delta rights activist, Comr. Akin Disi has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to release the seized properties of Niger Delta foremost Ex-warlord, Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
Comr. Akin Disi, youth president of Odimodi and its federated communities in Iduwini Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State made the call in a statement issued to newsmen in Warri recently, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers.
Akin particularly called on President Buhari to prevail on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other appropriate authorities on the need to release the seized properties, adding that there is no need for the Federal Government to still withhold Tompolo’s properties after been discharged and acquitted by Justice Ibrahim Buba of Federal High Court, Lagos in July 2020.
Comr. Disi maintained that after the court judgment, the federal government of Nigeria ought to have directed the appropriate authorities to release the seized properties of the former warlord, expressing shock on why it has not done so up till this moment.
In his words: “As a youth leader in the Niger Delta, I have objectively observed and reviewed the situation of things in the Niger Delta and the Ijaw Nation.
“I recalled that Justice Ibrahim Buba of Federal High Court, Lagos declared Niger Delta former militant leader, Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo discharged and acquitted over #45.9bn fraud on July, 15th, 2020.
“I observed that Tompolo’s confiscated properties and companies are yet to be released by the appropriate authorities and the singular act has infringed and defeated the court judgement passed by Justice Buba.
“I call on President Buhari to prevail on the appropriate authorities including the EFCC to hand over properties earlier seized from Tompolo and his company in order to promote the rule of law, fairness and justice.
“I also call on President Muhammadu Buhari to see and treat Chief Ekpemupolo as a law abiding citizen of Nigeria but not as a second class citizen because he is not from the North.”
